Hello friends! I'm so excited to finally be sharing pictures of the girls room...or rather the ceiling! A few months ago
Cutting Edge Stencils contacted me about trying one of their stencils. I've been wanting to try out a big stenciling project and this was the perfect opportunity! I chose the
Nagoya Allover Stencil and couldn't be more excited about how it turned out!

I decided to leave the walls the pink they were before and the ceiling is cream (the same color as the trim and doors, but up against the pink it takes on a darker hue) and stencil the pink onto the ceiling. Was it time consuming? YES! Was it worth it? YES! I absolutely love how it turned out and it adds so much to the room! Now I can't wait for the rest of the room to come together! But it'll be one step at a time :)
Here's my basic tips if you ever find yourself stenciling the ceiling:
- I worked on this project on and off when I had a moment through out the day or in the evening before my girls went to bed and it took about 6 days.
- Use some sort of spray adhesive (I used Elmer's) and reapply onto stencil every 3rd stencil move. I also used blue painters tape to help with positioning it on the ceiling.
- Remember you have gravity working against you so it will be time consuming and frustrating at times so be patient and triple check the position of the stencil before you start painting.
- I used a foam roller. Make sure the paint isn't gloppy on the roller or it will have a tendency to bleed instead of having crisp lines.
- After applying the paint remove stencil and wait about 10 minutes before moving it to the next section. Doing this will allow the paint on the stencil to dry which is very helpful when trying to position it.
Make sure you check out
Cutting Edge Stencils and all the amazing stencils and tools they have to offer! They have this awesome level that hooks right to the stencil! The stencil was so easy to use and it was super easy to clean! I let the paint dry on the stencil and put it in the tub with water to cover it and the paint peeled right off and I tossed it in the garbage. The stencil is still in perfect condition and is ready to be used on other projects.
So what do you guys think? Hope you like it as much as I do! Remember to come back in the morning to link up what you've been working on! Enjoy!
