Rapunzel Birthday

I had so much fun planning this birthday party! It was a lot of work, but so worth the look on my daughters face when she woke up the morning of her birthday! If you know me you know I don't like to just buy the store printed table clothes and call it good for decorations. I wanted the sun banners and lanterns everywhere. There was a very helpful blog I came across with ideas that I liked and she even included some printouts!

*If you would like printable versions of the coloring pages (found in google search), sun bunting (found here), lanterns, Flynn Rider wanted poster (found in google search) and frying pans I'd be happy to email them to you. Please contact me at

Now lets get to the party!

I designed her invitations using and an image I found online

I made the sun buntings by stringing them on yarn and adding fabric scraps in between each one.

I made lanterns by printing the design on vellum and put battery operated candles inside. The hanging lanterns have the candles attached by fishing line.

The "hair" is made from crape paper. I cut 9 strands 23 feet long, braided 3 sets and then braided those three together...yes it was time consuming, but once I got my groove it went by a little bit quicker!

The cake turned out to be my favorite part! If you know my you know I'm horrible at cakes so this was a very proud moment for me! I saw this tower using ice cream cones and I can't find where it is! I used a glass platter for the base and put the first layer of frosted cupcakes. Add the next layer of frosted cupcakes (about 8) The actual tower is 2 regular cones hooked together with skewers, a cupcake and a frosted waffle cone on top. Then add the green frosting to look like leaves and vines up the tower. Then add the flowers (from the dollar store) and that's it!

My little Rapunzel all dressed up and so excited for the party!

We had and assortment of food that was geared towards the movie as well. Braided bread sticks, yellow twizzlers and jello and orange boats.

For entertainment at the party I had coloring pages for when people started getting there, we played pin the frying pan on Flynn Rider and painted pillow cases. It was so much fun and a huge hit with my 4 year old!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Cake

My little girl turned 2 this year and we celebrated the day with a Minnie Mouse birthday party! We had a Minnie Mouse birthday party last year for my other daughter and you can check out my decorations here. The one thing I added this year was a Minnie Mouse cake. If you know me you know I struggle with cakes...I can  barely frost a cupcake. This year for the girls birthdays I did both cakes and I'm super proud of myself! This Minnie Mouse cake was super easy! Make a round cake, use cupcakes for the ears and the easiest part was the frosting in a can (like the kind of can you get whipped cream in) Cover the top and sides and add a tulle bow and your done! Super cute and super easy!

Paper Cupcakes

First I have to appologize for the horribe photos! These turned out so cute and the photo do not do them justice!

For my baby's first birthday party we had a cupcake birthday. I made these super cute cupcakes in all sizes and put them all over the house for decorations. They were super easy and didn't cost me anything. I had all of the supplies in my stash of craft stuff.

Here's what you need:
Tissue paper for frosting
skewers or dowels

The instruction size measurements are for the cupcakes in the photo.
  1. Using a 12x12 sheet of cardstock. Cut in half so it's 6x12. Score paper every 1/2 inch and fold accordion style. Glue both halves together to make it into a circle. This is the liner of the cupcake.
  2. For the frosting your going to make tissue puffs. You can find my tutorial to make those here. Attach the tissue puff frosting with a few dabs of glue to the inside of the liner you just made.
  3. For the candle use skewers or dowels as the base. The flame is gold ribbon folded in loops and wrapped around the top of the dowel and secure with glue. Then wrap yarn around 3/4 of the dowel and stick it in the cupcake.
That's it! If you're stopping by I'd love it if you'd follow me and leave a comment to let me know you were here. Enjoy!

Birthday Decorations: Minnie Mouse Tissue Puff

I made these for my daughter's birthday party this year. They turned out so cute and they were so easy to make. I didn't take pictures of the step by step when making the Minnie puffs, but I have pictures of a different one. Enjoy!

tissue paper - I used 4 packs each pack had 10 sheets
fishing line or whatever you want to tie it
tulle or ribbon for bow

  • Use one pack of tissue. Lay all 10 sheets flat and cut to desired size. For the head I used the size that it was.
  • Fold accordion style like a fan. 1 inch folds.

  • Tie fishing line around the center of your fan tightly. Leave a long end if you want to hang. Another cute idea that I did with these was for our Young Women New Beginnings. We tied them with tulle and left enough to hang them from the ceiling.

  • Start puffing out fan by separating each sheet of tissue.

  • For 2 ears I used 1 pack of 10 sheets of tissue cut in half and follow the same instructions. I used a stapler to attach them to the head.
  • Attach bow and that's it!
